The Orange Spotted Watchman Goby (Amblyeleotris guttata), also known as the Spotted Prawn Goby, is one of the most vibrant and engaging species for the home reef aquarium. This beautiful fish has a pale white or gray body generously dusted with brilliant orange spots that are often outlined in brown, giving it a captivating, polka-dotted appearance.

Like all Watchman Gobies, the Orange Spotted Watchman Goby is highly valued for its natural behavior. It forms a classic symbiotic relationship with an Alpheus genus Pistol Shrimp. The shrimp digs and maintains a shared burrow deep within the substrate, while the goby remains at the entrance, acting as the vigilant "watchman" and warning the shrimp of danger. This fish is Reef Safe and peaceful, thriving in community tanks. Ensure you provide a deep sand bed (at least 3 inches) with ample rubble for construction. Due to their tendency to jump when startled, a secure, tight-fitting lid is essential.
