Half Black Angelfish: The Hardy & Graceful Dwarf Angelfish
The Half Black Angelfish (Centropyge vrolikki), also known as the Vrolik's Angelfish or Pearl Scale Angelfish, is a popular and very beneficial member of the dwarf angelfish family. This angelfish is easily recognized by its uniform grayish-brown body with a darker gray or black vertical bar behind the pectoral fins. Its scales have a beautiful pearlescent sheen that shimmers in the light. It is an active and graceful swimmer that requires plenty of hiding places to feel secure. While it is generally peaceful, it can be territorial towards other dwarf angelfish and should be the only one of its kind in a tank. It is considered reef-safe with caution, meaning it may occasionally nip at soft corals or clam mantles, especially if not well-fed.
Why the Half Black Angelfish is a Great Choice:
- Hardy and Resilient: It is known to be a very durable and adaptable species.
- Adds Energy to the Tank: It adds a lot of energy and graceful movement to a spacious aquarium.
- Compact Size: Its small size makes it a perfect fit for a variety of reef and marine tanks.
- Reef-Safe with Caution: It can be successfully housed in many reef tanks if well-fed and monitored.
