Commonly referred to as the blue-spotted fantail rays, blue spotted stingrays, blue spotted rays, and ribbontail stingrays, this stingray has large bright blue spots on an oval, elongated disc and blue side-stripes along its tail. It makes an eye-catchy specimen in the tank. The Blue Spotted Stingray features rounded snout and the mouth on the underside of the body, along with the gills that is perfect for scooping up the animals hiding in the sand. The Blue Spotted Stingray is an aggressive fish and is found mostly feeding on corals, worms, shrimp, hermit crabs and small bony fishes, that is why it is not considered safe for a reef tank. It is a bottom-dwelling fish and requires a thick sand bed in the tank. The Blue It likes to cover itself with the soft substrates as camouflage. It features a poisonous tail spine that is used for protection. The Blue Spotted Stingray should never be exposed to copper-based medications and caution should be taken when netting. Blue Spotted Stingray thrives well in a temperature range of 72-78 degrees Fahrenheit and pH of 8.1-8.4. All stingrays require a sandy bottom. The Blue Spotted Stingray grows to fourteen inches.
