Long Fin Cherry Barb

The veil fin, or long fin cherry barb, is bred to develop longer flowing fins. Long fin cherry barbs are just as hardy as the parent standard fin cherry barb, and males are bright red while the females are closer to a copper color. Our Florida breeder takes special care developing these for the aquarium hobby, and they are normally shipped in a good medium to large size.

Care Guide

Tank setup: Give them a filter, a heater and plenty of plants. They feel safest with places to hide and show more color in a planted tank.

Feeding: Feed a quality flake or small pellet once or twice a day, only as much as they eat in a couple of minutes. They also enjoy frozen foods like bloodworms and brine shrimp.

Tankmates: Keep them with other small, peaceful fish such as rasboras, small tetras, corydoras and dwarf shrimp. Avoid large or boisterous fish and fin-nippers.

Good to know: The long fins are best kept away from fin-nippers like tiger barbs, so pair them with other gentle fish.
