The red nose pinocchio shrimp, or freshwater pinocchio shrimp, is a long, thin scavenger suited for gentle tank mates. Our favorite name, and the one we use around Christmas, is Rudolph the red nose shrimp. Pinocchio shrimp are great algae eaters. In fact, they will go after hair algae in its early stages.

Care Guide
Tank setup: Give them a cycled, planted tank with moss and hiding spots, plus a sponge filter or a sponge over the filter intake. Keep the water clean and stable.
Feeding: They graze on algae. Also feed shrimp pellets or algae wafers.
Tankmates: They do well with small, peaceful fish and other shrimp. Avoid cichlids and larger fish that will eat them.
Good to know: Pinocchio shrimp larvae need brackish water to develop, so they rarely breed in a freshwater tank.
