The freshwater aquarium fan dance goby, also known as the knight goby, generally grows to only three inches. The fan dance goby is peaceful and hardy. The nickname "fan dance" comes from the way the fish fans out and displays its fins. For a kids' tank, maybe we should just stick with the other name, knight goby; it's cooler-sounding anyway.

Care Guide
Tank setup: These small gobies do best with plenty of caves and hiding spots (small shells and rocks work well) and hard, alkaline water. Many do best with a little marine salt in the water (brackish, specific gravity about 1.002–1.008).
Feeding: Feed small amounts once or twice a day. They prefer small frozen foods like brine shrimp and bloodworms, and some will not eat flake reliably.
Tankmates: Keep them in a species tank or with other small, peaceful brackish fish such as mollies, glassfish and small livebearers. Avoid larger fish that could eat them.
Good to know: These tiny gobies are full of personality and often perch on rocks or glass to watch their surroundings.
