Red Rhodactis 7-Mushroom Colony: A One-of-a-Kind WYSIWYG Showpiece

This Red Rhodactis Mushroom Colony is an impressive, established piece featuring seven individual Rhodactis mushrooms growing together across a substantial piece of live rock. Each mushroom displays rich coloration, textured surfaces, and the fleshy appearance that makes Rhodactis mushrooms a favorite for adding color and dimension to reef aquariums.

Under blue-spectrum reef lighting, the mushrooms develop particularly vibrant coloration and fluorescent highlights. Because this is an established multi-mushroom colony rather than an individual frag, it provides immediate visual impact and a naturally developed appearance in the aquarium.

As an added bonus, this piece also has an established green encrusting coral growing directly on the rock. Rather than incorrectly identifying the species, we're including it as a Bonus Mystery Coral. The entire rock, including all seven Rhodactis mushrooms and the bonus coral, is included exactly as pictured.

Rhodactis mushrooms are photosynthetic, relatively hardy, and adaptable to a range of reef conditions. They generally prefer lower to moderate lighting with gentle to moderate water movement and can gradually spread across available rockwork once established.

Diet & Compatibility:

• Diet: Primarily photosynthetic, but Rhodactis mushrooms can also capture small suspended and meaty foods.
• Feeding: Supplemental feeding is optional but can support growth. Small portions of mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, finely chopped marine foods, or quality coral foods may be offered periodically.
• Reef Compatibility: Reef Safe. Allow adequate room between the colony and neighboring corals as the mushrooms grow and spread.
• Temperament: Generally peaceful, although expanding mushrooms may compete with neighboring corals for space.
• Placement: Lower to middle portions of the aquarium are generally appropriate. Place the rock securely and allow room for future growth.
• Water Requirements: Maintain stable reef parameters and avoid rapid fluctuations in temperature, salinity, alkalinity, or other major water parameters.
• Water Flow: Low to Moderate. Avoid strong direct flow that prevents the mushrooms from fully expanding.
