WYSIWYG Purple Base Green Bubble Anemone – Exact Anemone Pictured

WYSIWYG – WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET

The anemone shown in the listing photos is the exact individual you will receive. This is not a stock photo or representative specimen. Coloration, size, pattern, and appearance shown are specific to this anemone.

The Purple Base Green Bubble Anemone (Entacmaea quadricolor), often abbreviated as BTA, is one of the most popular sea anemones in the marine aquarium hobby. This color morph features vibrant green, bulbous-tipped tentacles contrasted by a distinctly purple, red, or maroon foot/column.

Native to the Indo-Pacific, Bubble Tip Anemones are prized for their hardiness and their ability to host many species of clownfish, including Ocellaris, Percula, and Maroon Clownfish. They are an excellent choice for intermediate marine aquarists looking for a beautiful centerpiece anemone.

The Purple Base Green BTA can reach 12 inches or more in diameter when fully grown. It requires a stable, mature aquarium with appropriate reef lighting, water flow, and water quality.

Diet & Compatibility

  • Diet: Photosynthetic carnivore. Much of its energy is provided by symbiotic zooxanthellae, but supplemental feeding is beneficial.
  • Feeding: Target-feed small portions of marine shrimp, clam, squid, or chopped fish approximately 2–3 times per week.
  • Lighting & Flow: Moderate to high-intensity reef lighting with moderate water flow.
  • Placement: Bubble Tip Anemones typically attach their foot deep within rockwork and may move until they find their preferred combination of light and flow. Powerheads and filter intakes should be guarded.
  • Reef Compatibility: Reef safe with caution. Anemones can sting nearby corals and other sessile invertebrates, so adequate space should be provided.
  • Propagation: Healthy, established Bubble Tip Anemones may reproduce asexually through splitting.
