Care Guide
Tank setup: Give them a cycled, planted tank with moss, driftwood and hiding spots. Cover filter intakes with a sponge and keep a lid on the tank, since amanos can climb out.
Feeding: Amanos eat algae and leftover food. If algae runs low, feed algae wafers or shrimp pellets.
Tankmates: Amanos do well with most peaceful community fish, plus other shrimp and snails. Avoid cichlids, goldfish, loaches and other fish large enough to eat them.
Good to know: Amano shrimp breed in captivity, but their larvae need brackish water to develop, so they will not overpopulate a freshwater tank.
