Even the scientific name of this hardy, active loach evokes the word "serpent". With a narrow snout and wide fins, the creature does look a bit like a dragon. Active day and night, the serpent loach explores, and often you will find him in unusual places.

Care Guide
Tank setup: These loaches come from clear, flowing streams. Give them a tank with a sand or smooth gravel bottom, rocks and caves to claim, some current and good oxygen.
Feeding: Feed sinking pellets or flake once or twice a day. They also enjoy frozen foods like bloodworms and brine shrimp.
Tankmates: They get along with most peaceful community fish of similar size, such as danios, rasboras, barbs and tetras. Give each loach its own hiding spot to limit squabbles.
Good to know: These loaches are active and curious, and they often perch on rocks to watch the tank.
