This specialized lifestyle means it is considered Reef-Safe with Caution; while it won't bother fish or most inverts, it may irritate its host coral as it consumes coral mucus and small polyps for part of its diet. It is a peaceful addition to the fish population but should not be housed with other similar gobies unless they are a confirmed pair.
