Rafflesi Butterflyfish: The Elegant & Patterned Centerpiece
The Rafflesi Butterflyfish (Chaetodon rafflesi), also known as the Latticed Butterflyfish, is a beautiful and unique fish that makes an excellent addition to a large fish-only marine aquarium. This butterflyfish is easily recognized by its vibrant coloration: a yellow body with a distinctive crisscross or "latticed" pattern of thin, darker lines. It also has a prominent black eye-band and a black spot on its tail. It is an active and graceful swimmer that requires plenty of open space. While generally peaceful, it can be territorial towards other butterflyfish. It is not considered reef-safe, as it is a specialized corallivore known to eat stony corals in the wild and will actively eat them in an aquarium.
Why the Rafflesi Butterflyfish is a Great Choice:
- Stunning Appearance: Its vibrant coloration and intricate pattern make it a true showpiece.
- Adds Energy to the Tank: It adds a lot of energy and graceful movement to a spacious aquarium.
- Impressive Size: It grows to a large size, making it a commanding and impressive fish.
- Hardy & Resilient: It is known to be a very durable and adaptable species.
