The pink kissing gourami has large lips, which it uses to spar with other fish for food and territory. When the gourami uses the mouth in such a fashion, it appears to kiss. Males and females look the same, so everyone is kissing everyone in a school of these pretty fish. The kissing gourami will grow to eight inches in the aquarium, so eventually the fish will need room. These are hardy pet fish and eat both veggies and meats, so a community pellet or flake food should suffice.

Care Guide
Tank setup: Kissing gouramis grow to about 8" in aquariums, so give them strong filtration and sturdy or artificial plants. Keep a lid on the tank and leave a gap of air above the water, since gouramis breathe from the surface.
Feeding: Feed a quality pellet or flake with plenty of vegetable content once or twice a day. They also enjoy frozen foods now and then.
Tankmates: Keep them with other medium to large, sturdy fish such as larger barbs, rainbowfish, plecos and peaceful cichlids. Small or timid fish may be bullied.
Good to know: The "kissing" is actually sparring between rivals. They also graze algae with those lips, so they appreciate vegetables and may munch soft plants.
