Orange Fin Tomini Tang: The Peaceful & Hardworking Algae Grazer
The Orange Fin Tomini Tang (Ctenochaetus tominiensis), also known as the Flame Fin Tang or the Tomini Bristletooth Tang, is a very popular and highly beneficial addition to a marine aquarium. This tang is prized for its unique coloration: a beautiful brownish-orange body with a striking yellow dorsal fin and a pale blue stripe above its eyes. Unlike some of its more aggressive cousins, the Tomini Tang is generally peaceful with other fish, making it an excellent community tank resident. As a specialized herbivore, it uses its bristle-like teeth to tirelessly graze on nuisance algae and detritus, making it a fantastic member of any clean-up crew. It is completely reef-safe and will not harm corals or invertebrates.
Why the Tomini Tang is a Great Choice:
- Generally Peaceful: It coexists well with other fish, making it a great community tank addition.
- Excellent Algae Control: It is a fantastic algae-eater, helping to keep the tank clean and healthy.
- Completely Reef-Safe: It will not harm corals, clams, or other invertebrates.
- Unique Appearance: Its distinctive coloration and graceful swimming make it a standout fish.
