Mustard Tang: The Unique & Hardworking Algae Grazer

The Mustard Tang (Acanthurus guttatus), also known as the Spotted Tang, is a popular and very beneficial addition to a marine aquarium. This tang is easily identified by its unique coloration: a beautiful brownish-gray body covered in numerous white spots, with a striking yellow or orange patch behind its eye. It is an active and graceful swimmer that requires plenty of open space to roam. While it is generally peaceful with most other species, it can be territorial towards other tangs, so it's often best to introduce it to the tank last. As a herbivore, it is a fantastic algae-eater, making it a valuable and hardworking member of any clean-up crew. It is completely reef-safe and will not harm corals or invertebrates.

Why the Mustard Tang is a Great Choice:

  • Unique Appearance: Its distinctive coloration and markings make it a true showpiece.
  • Excellent Algae Control: It tirelessly grazes on nuisance algae, helping to keep the tank clean and healthy.
  • Completely Reef-Safe: It will not harm corals, clams, or other invertebrates.
  • Adds Energy to the Tank: It adds a lot of energy and movement to a spacious aquarium.
