If anyone can figure out why our trade called these the "Mayan" butterfly koi instead of black, gold, and white butterfly koi, we would love to cite the history here. This hybrid koi has a unique color pattern (pictured) along with the distinctive fins of butterfly koi. This color pattern was one of the few that originated in Malaysia and not in Japan.

Care Guide
Tank setup: Koi grow large and are best kept in an outdoor pond with strong filtration. They are cool-water fish and do not need a heater.
Feeding: Feed a quality koi or goldfish pellet once or twice a day, only as much as they eat in a few minutes. Feed less when the water is cool.
Tankmates: Koi get along with goldfish and other pond fish.
Good to know: Butterfly koi have long, flowing fins and are a cross between koi and Asian long-finned carp.
