The L-519 Honeycomb Pleco, or L-519 Rio Iténez Pleco, is named for its very unique honeycomb color pattern on the body. This pleco originates in Brazil, but the batch we have was bred in the United States for the aquarium trade.

Care Guide
Tank setup: Give them caves, driftwood and good filtration. They are most active at night.
Feeding: Feed algae wafers and sinking pellets once a day, ideally in the evening when they are most active. They also enjoy frozen bloodworms.
Tankmates: They are peaceful and get along with most community fish. Males may squabble over caves, so give each one its own hiding spot.
Good to know: Male honeycomb plecos grow soft bristles on their snout as they mature, while females stay smoother-faced.
