The Koi Betta is a highly sought color variation that comes in roundtail (plakat) and veil tail fins. The koi betta has a variable color pattern that features red, white, and black and is named after the color pattern of the sanke and showa koi found in ponds. No two koi bettas have the same pattern, but all are truly rare.

Care Guide
Tank setup: Give one betta at least a 5-gallon tank with a heater (bettas are tropical fish), a gentle filter and live or silk plants. Floating plants or a "betta leaf" near the surface give him a place to rest. Keep a lid on the tank and leave a gap of air under it, since bettas breathe from the surface. Change about 25% of the water every week.
Feeding: Feed 2–3 betta pellets or a pinch of flake once or twice a day, plus frozen or live bloodworms, brine shrimp or daphnia a few times a week. Bettas overeat easily, so small meals are best.
Tankmates: Never keep two male bettas together. In a tank of 10 gallons or more, a male can live with small, peaceful fish that don't nip fins, such as corydoras, small rasboras, otocinclus and snails. Avoid fin-nippers like tiger barbs and flashy, long-finned fish like fancy guppies.
Good to know: Koi and galaxy bettas carry the "marble" gene, so their colors and patterns can shift throughout their lives. No two look alike for long.
