Pea puffers are not schoolers and just one or two will be fine in a fish tank, but watching four swim about looking for little snails is much more fun than watching one.

Care Guide
Tank setup: Give them a planted tank with lots of plants and hiding places to break up sight lines, and good filtration, since puffers are messy eaters.
Feeding: Puffers need meaty foods and usually won't eat flake. Feed frozen foods like bloodworms and brine shrimp once a day. They also enjoy small snails, which help keep their teeth trimmed.
Tankmates: Pea puffers nip fins and are best kept with their own kind, or with fast, tough fish like otocinclus. Shrimp and snails may be eaten.
Good to know: Pea puffers are the smallest puffers in the hobby and are true freshwater fish. They are curious and often watch their owners.
