The freshwater empire goby, or empire gudgeon goby, has dramatic rainbow colors and is wild-caught, and therefore not often seen in the trade. Pictured is an adult male displaying his colors to a female. Females are not as colorful as the males, but the males don't display their color without the female. We recommend the purchase of a pair, one male and one female.

Care Guide
Tank setup: Give them a planted tank with caves, driftwood and gentle filtration. They are cave spawners, so small caves or pipes encourage breeding.
Feeding: Feed micro pellets or a quality flake once or twice a day. They also enjoy frozen foods like bloodworms and brine shrimp.
Tankmates: They get along with small, peaceful community fish such as tetras, rasboras, rainbowfish and corydoras. They may eat baby shrimp.
Good to know: Gudgeons are cave spawners; the male guards the eggs until they hatch.
