Electric Eels are a dangerous fish and we will not knowingly sell this to anyone with children. These eels, actually the largest knifefish in the World that happens to be shaped like an eel, at maximum size will emit 800 Volts. Our largest specimens are sold only to public aquariums. Please, please take these fish seriously and ignore the internet nonsense that says these cannot kill a human; they can. However, they are an amazing and unique pet and hardy. Kindly do your research on how you will conduct water changes and general maintenance without getting shocked prior to purchasing this animal. Electric eels feed on small live feeder fish.
AquariumFish.com will not sell these eels to anyone under the age of 21. If the eels are more than 2 feet, you would need to be an aquarist associated with an aquarium store or public aquarium.

Care Guide
Tank setup: Electric eels need strong filtration, a heavy, locked lid and open access to the surface, since they breathe air. Never put your hands in the tank, and use insulated tools for maintenance.
Feeding: Feed meaty foods like frozen fish and shrimp using long feeding tongs. Some learn to take carnivore pellets.
Tankmates: Electric eels can stun and eat other fish. Keep them alone.
Good to know: Electric eels can produce a shock strong enough to injure a person. They are not true eels but are related to knifefish.
