The beautiful Daisy's blue eye ricefish are similar to killifish but belong to their own genus, Oryzias, spread throughout Asia from China to Japan. Ricefish are schooling fish that swim near the surface of rice paddies to control the mosquito population. These are great tank mates for any peaceful community tank, goldfish and betta tanks (they do not require a heater), and of course rice paddies. These fish can also handle water temperature down to the 60s.

Care Guide
Tank setup: Give them a planted tank with floating plants, gentle filtration and a lid. Daisy's ricefish are tropical, so keep the water heated to 75–82°F.
Feeding: Feed crushed flake or micro pellets once or twice a day, only as much as they eat in a couple of minutes. They also enjoy frozen brine shrimp.
Tankmates: Daisy's ricefish are a great fit for peaceful community tanks with small rasboras, tetras, pygmy corydoras and shrimp. Avoid large or aggressive fish.
Good to know: Daisy's ricefish come from Sulawesi, Indonesia, and were first described in 2010. Males show the brightest blue and red on their fins.
