Chrysurus Angelfish: The Elegant & Regal Showpiece
The Chrysurus Angelfish (Pomacanthus chrysurus), also known as the Earspot Angelfish, is a beautiful and unique fish that serves as a stunning centerpiece in a large marine aquarium. This angelfish is easily recognized by its elegant coloration: a deep purplish-black body adorned with small white spots and a prominent yellow "earspot" behind its gill plate. Its tail is also a beautiful contrast of white and yellow. It is an active and graceful swimmer that requires plenty of open space and rockwork to feel secure. While it is a generally peaceful angelfish, it can be territorial towards other angelfish and some other tank mates. It is considered reef-safe with caution, meaning it may occasionally nip at soft corals or clams.
Why the Chrysurus Angelfish is a Great Choice:
- Stunning Appearance: Its unique high-contrast coloration and regal presence make it a true showpiece.
- Adds Energy to the Tank: It adds a lot of energy and graceful movement to a spacious aquarium.
- Impressive Size: It grows to a large size, making it a commanding and impressive fish.
- Reef-Safe with Caution: It can be successfully housed in many reef tanks if well-fed and monitored.
