Bella Goby
The Bella Goby (Valenciennea bella) is best known for its constant, active sifting behavior, tirelessly taking in mouthfuls of sand and sifting it through its gills to extract food. It's an excellent choice for a community reef tank and is a perfect "workhorse" fish to help keep your substrate clean, aerated, and free of detritus. Discovered by French zoologish Achille Valencienna, he nick named the fish "bella" which is simply Latin for "beautiful".
Why the Bella Goby is a Great Choice:
- Natural Sand-Sifter: Its continuous sifting behavior helps to keep the sand bed clean and aerated, preventing harmful gas buildup.
- Stunning Appearance: The elegant blue and yellow markings provide a beautiful, subtle splash of color.
- Peaceful Temperament: It is a non-aggressive species that coexists well with other peaceful tank mates.
- Reef-Safe: The Bella Goby is completely safe to keep with all types of corals and invertebrates.
