Care Guide
Tank setup: Give them plenty of plants and some algae to graze. They are hardy and do fine at room temperature in most homes.
Feeding: Feed a quality flake that includes vegetable matter once or twice a day. They also graze on algae, including hair algae.
Tankmates: Flagfish can be a little nippy and territorial, so keep them with other hardy, active fish rather than slow, long-finned fish.
Good to know: Flagfish are named for the male's red-and-blue pattern, which looks a bit like the American flag. They are great at eating hair algae.
