Collection: Tetras
Colorful and Peaceful Schooling Fish
Tetras are among the most popular freshwater aquarium fish, known for their lively schooling behavior, bright colors, and gentle temperament. They’re perfect for community tanks and bring constant motion and sparkle to any aquarium setup.

Tetras are schooling fish, so we always recommend purchasing at least four — and ideally six or more if your aquarium size allows. A good rule of thumb for any aquarium is one inch of fish per one gallon of water. Keeping them in a group helps them feel secure and show their best colors and natural movement.
The Tetra family is broad and diverse, ranging from classic community species like the Neon Tetra and Lemon Tetra to the larger and more robust Alestes and Congo Tetras, which can even hold their own in tanks with semi-aggressive cichlids. Most Tetras in the aquarium trade — aside from Congo and Alestes varieties — originate from the soft, slightly acidic waters of South America’s Amazon Basin.
At AquariumFish.com, we carry a wide selection of healthy, tank-raised Tetras for sale, available in every size and color. These fish are hardy, peaceful, and ideal for aquarists who want a vibrant, active community aquarium.
