The silver arowana is a classic predator of the Amazon and a classic pet fish in the aquatic trade. Silver arowanas are fine with other fish their same size, but over the years these monster fish will grow to three feet. In the wild, these fish can jump in the air to catch small birds, so the aquarium will need a top cover. The arowana can be converted to feed on floating pellet food, but have a source of feeder fish as well. Small arowana often have a yolk sac, which will disappear within a few days. At that point they will need small live food or meaty flake food.

Care Guide
Tank setup: Arowanas are powerful jumpers, so a heavy, tight-fitting lid is a must. Give them open swimming space and strong filtration.
Feeding: Feed floating carnivore pellets and frozen foods like shrimp.
Tankmates: Arowanas will eat any fish that fits in their mouth. Keep them only with large, robust fish such as large catfish, big cichlids and stingrays.
Good to know: Arowanas swim near the surface and use the barbels on their chin to sense food.
