These distinctive pond fish thrive well in the pond and in the aquarium (at room temperature, not tropical temperature).
Goldfish were bred to be viewed from above in the pond, similar to koi, but they still look great in a goldfish bowl.

Care Guide
Tank setup: Comets are fast, active swimmers that grow big and produce a lot of waste. They do very well in outdoor ponds; indoors, use a strong filter.
Feeding: Feed small amounts of a quality sinking pellet or flake once or twice a day, only as much as they eat in a couple of minutes. They also enjoy frozen foods like bloodworms and brine shrimp.
Tankmates: Keep them with other single-tail goldfish like comets and shubunkins, or with koi in a pond. Avoid slow fancy goldfish, which can't compete for food, and tropical fish, which need warmer water.
Ponds: This is where they shine. They handle cold winters as long as part of the pond stays deep enough not to freeze solid. Stop feeding when the water drops below about 50°F.
Good to know: Comets grow quickly and are well suited to ponds.
