Care Guide
Tank setup: Clown loaches grow slowly but eventually reach 8–12 inches. Give them a sand bottom, plenty of caves and driftwood, warm, clean water and good filtration.
Feeding: Feed sinking pellets or wafers once or twice a day so food reaches the bottom. They also enjoy frozen foods like bloodworms and brine shrimp. Clown loaches love snails and help control pest snails.
Tankmates: Clown loaches get along with most peaceful community fish, such as tetras, barbs, rasboras, gouramis, angelfish and other loaches. They eat snails and may eat small shrimp.
Good to know: Clown loaches are social and long-lived; they often rest on their sides or in a pile, which is normal. They are also prone to ich, so quarantine new fish.
